Synthetic biology – an emerging innovation area – is a topic that is being discussed in different countries at the moment. Several organisations of the EPTA network – the European umbrella organisation of parliamentary TA institutions – has released a briefing note for national and European policy makers, and interested citizens on the technological and societal challenges for governing synthetic biology in the near future.  IST has participated in this briefing note and it can be consulted here:
